Sam is a performer and theatre maker. He has worked as an Actor, Director, Writer, Producer, Stunt Performer, Stunt Rigger, Physical Theatre Performer, Movement Director and workshop facilitator. He is the co-founder and co-Artistic Director of Shock Therapy Arts.
Sam works in theatre, film, TV and large scale events and has worked for a number of companies and festivals over the past 20 years. His career has taken him to New York, London, Namibia, South Africa, Denmark, Norway and India as well as all over Australia.
Sam has co-written 7 original works with Shock Therapy Arts, 4 of which have been published by Playlab Theatre. He has also created several other performance works for Shock Therapy Arts including Locked In, Quest of Chaos and The Cleaners which premiered at Splendour in the Grass.
He was awarded Best Director at the 2015 Matilda Awards for Shock Therapy’s production of Martin McDonagh’s “The Pillowman”. Sam has also been nominated twice for the Best Actor in a Leading Role Matilda Awards and Shock Therapy has won Best Independent Production 3 times. Sam won a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award for his work as a Stunt Performer in "Mad Max – Fury Road" and has appeared as an actor in a number of films and television series.
Sam was involved as a physical performer in the creative development of “King Kong–The Musical” by Global Creature and was part of the creative team for further developments of the show in London and New York in preparation for the show's Broadway premiere in 2018. He has worked extensively on large scale events as a performer, director and movement director. Sam was the Performance Director of the Closing Ceremony at Woodford Folk Festival between 2017-2020 and has also worked on the Opening Ceremony of the 2018 Commonwealth Games as well as the 2015 Asia Cup.
Sam grew up on the Gold Coast, Australia and continues to work from and be an advocate for the growth and development of the arts ecology in the region.

Sam has been performing professionally since the age of 17 and has enjoyed a successful career both on stage and on screen. He is a dynamic and physical performer with a range of skills and training, including being a graded Stunt Action Performer.

Sam specialises in providing professional movement consultation and direction for events and productions of any size as well as for individual performers. Having worked on events such as the Asia Cup Opening Ceremony, Bleach* Festival, Woodford Folk Festival Welcome Ceremony and Fire Event, 2018 Commonwealth Games and King Kong the Musical, Sam is an industry leader in directing physical actions on stage and screen. Individual movement consultation is also available for actors and performers.
Sam offers workshops in a wide range of skills including Physical Theatre/ Movement, Improvisation, Character Development, Stage Combat, Brechtian Techniques, Shakespeare, Comedy, Devising/ Play Building and Directing. Sam is available to facilitate workshops for performers of all levels from amateur to professional.
Sam is a published playwright and has written numerous original works. He has also written and developed scripts for screen. As well as commissions, Sam also offers script development and feedback and dramaturgy on existing scripts.
